Distanced Socializing Devotional- 10

Our Saturday devotion was prepared by Deb Ruhrdanz, a member of Christ UMC and a member of our Church Trustees.

Scripture – 1 John 5:14-15

Reflection

I like the song “Unanswered Prayers” by Garth Brooks. Even though it is a country song, I reflect on how God really does know what our heart desires and what is best for us. Sometimes it is hard to understand. I found this verse a couple of years ago.

“I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for wisdom and God gave me brawn and brains to work.

I asked for courage and God gave me dangers to overcome.

I asked for patience and God placed me in situations where I was forced to wait.

I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help.

I asked for favors and God gave me opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted but I received everything I needed.

Guess all my prayers were answered!”

I for one am glad that I have had unanswered prayers I wouldn’t have my wonderful spouse, son or in-laws, great daughter-in-law, darling grandchildren, a job I love, a faith community that makes me have a stronger faith, or the many opportunities I have had over my life time. We all need to be strong in our faith and listen to what God has in store for us!

Prayer

Dear God. Let me listen more and ask for less because you know what I need in order to be stronger. Amen.
