Our Saturday devotional this week has been prepared by Liz Bady, a member of our church.
Scripture: Psalm 18:20-24
God made my life complete
When I placed all the pieces before God.
When I got my act together,
God gave me a fresh start.
Now I’m alert to God’s ways;
I don’t take God for granted.
Every day I review the ways God works;
I try not to miss a trick.
I feel put back together,
And I’m watching my step.
God rewrote the text of my life
When I opened the book of my heart to God’s eyes.

Reflection
I sit here the Thursday after Easter, an Easter that was so unusual, but still felt joyful and inspiring as we all connected and worshiped together even in this time of social distancing. I am thinking that many of you, like me, are doing a lot of thinking. With all that is going on, with so much unknown and scary - it makes me want to think back over my life. I have had many hard times in my life, but also, so much good, so much to appreciate and of which to be grateful.
Having God in my life is the one most constant - even when I have not been constant to God. God gives me the strength that I, myself, do not have. I am hoping that during this strange and difficult time we can all turn to God. That we can over and over “open the books of our hearts to God’s eyes.” And, let God rewrite what needs to be rewritten in the text of our lives.
Prayer
Almighty God, send your Holy Spirit upon us so that we may perfectly love you and faithfully follow you today and always. In the name and spirit of Christ. Amen
